2020 GMCA miniMBA: Business Fundamentals

The GMCA miniMBA: Business Fundamentals program registration is now open! This 10-lecture program will provide graduate students and post-docs with:

  • A grounding in fundamental business concepts
  • The opportunity to learn from business experts
  • The chance to apply this new knowledge directly to business cases

Course format:
Each lecture will cover a different business concept and/or provide an opportunity for group discussion. Taught by industry professionals with diverse backgrounds, this course is based off of concepts from the popular book by Steven Silbiger “Ten Day MBA”.

At the end of the course, students will be given the opportunity to participate in a case competition, which will be judged by consultants and industry professionals.

Program Information: 

  • Duration: January 13 – February 21, 2020
  • Time: 6:00 – 8:00 PM (Monday/Wednesday or Friday)
  • Location: University of Toronto – St. George Campus
  • Cost: $50* (*Successful applicants will be provided further details regarding payment & registration)
A detailed schedule/syllabus will be provided to successful applicants.

The coursebook “Ten Day MBA” by Silbiger, may also be purchased separately (soft/hard copy; recommended read).

Master Case Interview Series 2019

Apply for our Master Case Interview Series (MCIS)!

This training program is designed to prepare graduate students and advanced professional degree candidates (Masters, PhDs, Post-Docs, MDs, and JDs), who will be entering the upcoming recruitment cycle in the summer or fall of 2019.

The design of this exclusive program echoes the learnings from many of our previous members that had gone through the recruiting cycle and what had helped them succeed. Over the years, many program participants succeeded in securing offers from consulting firms.

We are proud to provide you with a comprehensive and highly interactive training program which helps you to kickstart the case interview preparation process. Led by experienced consultants from various firms, this program will teach you:

2019 IQVIA (formerly QuintilesIMS) Frontiers in Healthcare Consulting Engagement

This engagement will run from mid-May to the end of August, with an approximate time commitment of 10-15 hours per person per week. A team of 4-5 grad student/postdoc members will be selected by IQVIA to work together on a collaborative consulting project leveraging the team’s research, analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills. Throughout the engagement, the team will work with IQVIA consultants to learn fundamental consulting skills and apply them to tackle a real-world challenge facing today’s healthcare industry.
Required skills:
 

  • Strong teamwork, communication, and presentation skills
  • Superior research, analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills
  • Excellent work ethic, time management, and independent learning skills
  • Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, as well as a demonstrated interest in healthcare consulting

Application:
 
Interested grad student/postdoc candidates must apply as a team of 4-5 members with 1 team leader and submit an application package including the individual resumes of each member and a single team cover letter (1 page maximum for each resume and any experiences/skills beyond one page will not be considered). 
Team members should note that the engagement requires significant time and effort and should only apply if they can afford to do so over the 4 months.

Interview Process: 

Interview invitation and case release on Monday, April 22.
Interview date and location: 1:00 – 3:30 pm on Thursday, May 2 at the IQVIA office in Mississauga.
