2016 GMCA Strategic Management Consulting Conference

The GMCA Strategic Management Consulting Conference is back! This year, the GMCA is hosting the annual conference from Thursday May 5th to Friday May 13th. This year, we will be hosting workshops from May 5-6th and the case competition from May 7-13th. Even if you’ve attended this conference before, this year we will present new workshops, exciting networking opportunities and, as always, the case competition with management consulting judges from top firms.

Workshops:

Workshop tickets will be sold until May 1st, 11:59 pm. This ticket is for all individuals who would like to learn more about consulting, participate in a less-formal networking night and get a sense for what it takes to get into consulting without participating in the case competition. You will get insider information from management consultants from top firms and get opportunities to network. Space is limited. Get your ticket here today! (See Conference Schedule)

Case competition:

Case Competition application deadline is April 24th, 11:59 pm. The case competition is a great opportunity to get noticed and make connections with consulting industry professionals. The competition will have teams of 5. As before, only one professional / MBA / Undergrad is allowed per team. Four team mates must be graduate students, MD/JD candidates or post docs.

We accept applications from teams with less than 5 members, including single-member applications. Once selected to compete, teams with less than 5 members will be randomly grouped into teams of five.

Space is limited, so make sure to apply by the deadline by sending the GMCA Team Application form and attaching all team member resumes in 1 PDF to applications@gmcacanada.com.

NOTE: Applications that do not follow the above guidelines will NOT be considered.

If your team is selected for case competition, a separate link to purchase an invite-only case competition ticket will be sent out to each individual on the team. The ticket costs $30 per person and gives you access to coaching, the case competition, and an exclusive networking event on May 13th. Teams will be notified if they’re accepted by May 1st. This year’s case will be released on Saturday, May 7th. There will be a Coach’s Corner session on Monday, May 9th.

NOTE: The workshop pass is not included in the case competition ticket. Competing team members need to purchase the workshop pass separately.

This conference will take place on the U of T St. George campus in Toronto.

2015-01-08_185646

The GMCA is proud to announce our 2016 miniMBA program!

This 10 lecture program will give graduate students and post-docs:
– A grounding in fundamental business concepts
– The opportunity to learn from business experts
– The chance to apply this new knowledge to solving business cases

The lectures will be presented by industry professionals with diverse backgrounds.
Course format: Each class will consist of a mini group case practice on a specific topic followed by a group presentation of the solution. There will then be a one hour lecture on the same topic. The course will cover concepts from the popular “Ten Day MBA” book, by Steven Silbiger. At the end of the course, students will participate in a case competition which will be judged by a panel of consultants.

**Please note, this is a very popular offering and our waiting lists are usually full. If you cannot attend ALL of the lectures please consider taking the class the next time that it is offered**

Dates: The program will run from February 2rd to March 4th from 6-8pm.  Lectures will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday in week 1, and on Mondays and Wednesdays for the remainder of the program. The final class will be the case competition, followed by a networking reception. In total, there will be 10 classes.

Cost: $40

Course book “Ten Day MBA” by Silbiger, ~$20 must also need to be purchased (soft/hard copy).
